The Custom Suit Experience: What to Expect from Start to Finish
Share
For many men, the idea of a custom suit feels intimidating, but it shouldn’t be.
At Mac & Clay, the process is designed to be straightforward, collaborative, and most importantly personal. We can easily break it into 4 steps:
Step 1: The Conversation
It starts with understanding you.
- What do you need the suit for? (i.e. wedding, work, everyday wear)
- What’s your personal style?
- What do you want to feel when you wear it?
Step 2: Measurements That Actually Matter
We go beyond basic sizing. This is where custom separates itself from off-the-rack.
- Posture
- Shoulder slope
- Arm position
- Body balance
Step 3: Fabric & Design
Then comes the fun part, where your suit becomes yours.
- Fabric (season, weight, durability)
- Lining (where personality comes in)
- Lapels, buttons, pockets, stitching, and more
Step 4: Fitting & Refinement
Once your garment arrives:
- We fine-tune the fit
- Make any final adjustments
- Ensure it feels as good as it looks
In case you're asking yourself "Is it worth it?"
If you wear a suit more than a few times a year—or if the occasion matters—the answer is yes. Because the difference isn’t just how it looks, it’s how you carry yourself in it.
Book your first custom consultation with Mac & Clay—we’ll walk you through every step.
